Metaplasm is an installation that consists of crafted wood as well as other manipulated material – all of which are brought together and made distinct by a ring of sand. The main sculpture holds a clay box, which contains a tablet, hidden under a bed of moss, displaying a performance film. Overall, the project invites the unfamiliar, the mythical and the strange to take place in a fictitious environment that is made real by the artist´s manipulation of materials. The viewer, moreover, is invited into an otherworldly – indeed queer – place, in which, through craft, film and performance, the artist can be seen embodying a fictive character. At once, she is both human and insect, queering nature as practice and identity.
